Tie adjustments when flipping stems

• May 14, 2024 - 21:55

When I do multi-part songs on the same staff, I typically change the stem directions after I'm done. Problem is, the ties I had already placed aren't re-adjusting. They end up overlapping stuff when they should really be getting more narrow. I ended up having to replace the affected ties; I'd rather not resize them by hand.

It's not stopping me from doing anything, but it would be cool if it saved me some time.

My software version is 4.2.1.

You could also make it so flipping stems doesn't mess with my beam changes, but I honestly don't care at this point.

I believe (not sure about this; someone correct me if I'm wrong???) that ties will revert to their default placement when the stems are inverted. The answer to this is simply to not bother with adjusting your ties until they are in the orientation you want them. First, set the stems to the direction you want. Only then, adjust the ties as you want. Custom adjustments like this should always be the very last action you take.
