glissando going through a rest not working
I'm trying to get a glissando to go from a 4 dotted whole note to a quarter note but it has to travel through two rests to get there. i assumed i would be able to connect a glissando between the two since i had seen a few other scores doing so, but it wont even show up.

That would be correct. A glissando through a rest is contradictory, by definition. A glissando implies continuous sound; a rest implies a cessation of sound.
If you've seen MuS scores with this, I will guess that one voice had the notes and another voice had the rest.
