how do I turn off chord playback in Musescore 3?

• Jan 22, 2024 - 09:20

I don't want to hear chord playback. I've followed the instructions in previous posts, but my Inspector doesn't have a "Play" button (see screenshot). I don't see anything in the Mixer or Play panel either. Please help. This has been driving me crazy

There are two ways.
For all chord symbols use Format -> Style -> Chord symbols and uncheck the 'Play' button.
For a single chord symbol use the Inspector, but you must select a chord symbol to get the menue.

From your screenshot I can't see all details. It is better if you attach a sample score. It seems you use a guitar and have selected the fretboard diagram. Select instead the chord name above of the diagram. Then you will find the play checkbox.

I rarely use guitar notes and therefore tablature.

The tabulator is a linked staff. You can delete this staff in the instrument dialog and add a new, unlinked one. The notes in the tabulator are then of course also deleted, but you can simply copy those from the normal staff and paste them into the tabulator.

However, the purpose of this is not clear to me ...

EDIT:
If you only want the tabulator, you can also delete the standard staff there.
