A section break shall imply always a line break (system break).
This means that a new section always starts on a new system.

Comments

The new semantic gives some opportunity to speedup layout. A re-layout can be limited to the current section. Only the page layout has to be done for the whole score which is fast.
For this to work a section cannot start after a horizontal frame.

Oh, OK, I guess I can live with that restriction, if it comes with a (potentially big) performance gain ;-)
(like on my 400+ pages and sections album, where a single up/down on a note takes 5 seconds)

Would this change allow to also have a page break rather than a simple line break?

In my experience, a page break is perhaps more frequently associated with a section break than a line break; I understand the reasons for the change, but the possibility to choose is important.

Thanks,

M.

I'd expect to be able to place a page break manually. So the section break might imply "at least" a line break, but if I added a page break, I'd get one. Or, I guess, an option in the section break properties.

Whatever solution would be fine, as long as it is possible to choose (I find I always have to open the section properties for fine tuning, so one parameter more would not be a problem).

another bug in latest nightly - in playback

if the SB is at the end - playback stops and waits at both times.

But before a sectiom break happens in playback
- all repeats, da capos, dal segnos
must be passed through.
