Using the Linux Nightly

I tried to run the new Nightly Build without succsess. I'm new to Linux, having only upgraded New Year's Eve. As a result I don't know if the problem is my lack of knowledge or a program fault. I downloaded the file and then extracted it. The result was a single file called mscore, which didn't open when I clicked on it and it didn't open in the Software Center either. I am running Ubuntu Studio, the Long Term Support version.
