Lost score!
I was working on a score but when I went back into it it seems to have been completely wiped! I tried seeing if I could restore a previous version but there were no versions available. Is there any way I can recover it, and how can I stop it happening again?

Did you do the research indicated in the other post?

Thanks - yes, it took me a while to understand the instructions but eventually I found the back up file (I had to search a couple of times before finding the "mscz," file, it wasn't easy to find) - I managed to save it (and copies/backup) so I'm back to where I was before, thank goodness. Thanks for your help.
Presumably what happened is you saved it to a different folder than the one you are now opening it from (like, maybe you saved it once while it was empty, then did Save As but gave it a different folder). What's the name of the folder you believe you saved it, and what's the name of the folder you are opening it from now?

Thanks for your response. No I didn't save it in another folder - the last save date was correct but it was completely blank. Luckily after following the instructions (which were not that easy to follow - for me, anyway!) I found the back-up file and have now been able to open it, save it and a backup copy and save as a PDF. It's just worrying that it happened in the first place and you have to go through this whole rigmarole of finding hidden files buried in your PC... seeing other people having the same problem plus the instructions on how to find the backup shows that this is a relatively common issue - be good if they could stop it happening!

Actually, while corrupt scores that require restoring from backup does happen occasionally, what you describe really isn't possibke if the save succeeeded, which suggests either hard drive failure or, as I said, simply being mistaken about which folder to look in ?which is quite common, lots of people don't "get" folders).
