Hi everyone,

We're pleased to announce that MuseScore Studio 4.3.1 is now available.

Release builds can be found at https://musescore.org/en/download or via Help > Check for update within the application.

This update fixes a critical usability issue affecting AZERTY keyboard users. The shift modifier key can now be used to trigger number keys, enabling note durations to be changed using the default shortcuts.

This release also improves CPU performance when using Muse Sounds, and resolves a number of playback bugs

MuseScore is taking part in Google Summer of Code (GSoC) again this year, and we have two really exciting projects to share with you!

Dynamics popup

This project will provide a quick way to enter dynamics and hairpins simply by clicking on an existing dynamic.

We are delighted to announce the release of MuseScore Studio 4.3. This latest release in the MuseScore 4 series is the first to use the new MuseScore Studio branding that we announced earlier this year. This version contains numerous fixes and improvements, including a new sound flags feature that provides advanced control over score playback with Muse Sounds.

MuseScore Studio remains free and open source under GPL version 3.

Hi everyone,

Today we're sharing an important update to the name of the MuseScore desktop notation app. Starting in 2024, it will be called MuseScore Studio.

We’re aware that any product rebrand — even a relatively subtle one like this — rarely receives unanimous approval, especially when an app has such a long history and dedicated community. But rest assured, we’re making this change for very necessary reasons.

As promised, we have a beta build ready for MuseScore 4.2, which you can download from our release page over on GitHub: https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/releases/tag/v4.2.0-beta

Once the beta is installed, it will show up on your machine as “MuseScore 4 Testing”. You can install it alongside your current version of MuseScore 4, but please be aware that the two versions will share preferences and workspaces. We’re about a month away from the release of MuseScore 4.2, which means that now is a great time to help test all the fantastic new features that will be included in this release:

Guitar

Support for alternate string tunings
All-new system for inputting bends and customising their playback
- Bend playback currently requires SoundFont or VST. We’ll update this post when support for bends is added in Muse Sounds.
