Hi everyone,

We're pleased to announce that the Beta release for MuseScore Studio 4.3 is now available. You can download it here for:

Windows (MSI installer, portable)
macOS (DMG)
Linux (64-bit Intel/AMD, 32-bit ARM, 64-bit ARM)

Once the beta is installed, it will show up on your machine as “MuseScore 4 Testing”. You can install it alongside your current version of MuseScore 4, but please be aware that the two versions

Hi everyone,

Today we're sharing an important update to the name of the MuseScore desktop notation app. Starting in 2024, it will be called MuseScore Studio.

We’re aware that any product rebrand — even a relatively subtle one like this — rarely receives unanimous approval, especially when an app has such a long history and dedicated community. But rest assured, we’re making this change for very necessary reasons.

We're pleased to announce that MuseScore 4.2.1 is now available.

Release builds can be found in Muse Hub or at https://musescore.org/en/download.

This release includes all the new features added in MuseScore 4.2, as well as fixes a number of crashes and improvements to the stability of the app.

We’re about a month away from the release of MuseScore 4.2, which means that now is a great time to help test all the fantastic new features that will be included in this release:

Support for alternate string tunings
All-new system for inputting bends and customising their playback
- Bend playback currently requires SoundFont or VST. We’ll update this post when support for bends is added in Muse Sounds.

We’re delighted to announce that MuseScore 4 has won the Public Choice Award, an outstanding accolade in the UX Design Awards 2023.

The UX Design Awards were established by the IDZ (International Design Centre) Berlin, to celebrate global product design and innovation. In order to be nominated for this year’s award, MuseScore 4 had to undergo a rigorous selection process by an expert jury. This was followed by a public ballot in which over 24,000 votes were cast

Alternate string tunings for guitar

We’re working on a new ‘string tuning’ element, which will be accessible via the Guitar palette. This will provide an easy way to specify new tunings for multiple strings and (optionally) have those tunings displayed in the score. You’ll be able to choose from a list of preset
