Saved styles in default files not working
Edit > Preferences > Score > Default Files
I have saved here the file paths for custom score and part styles, but when I create a new score, it gets created with MuseScore's original style. I am able to load the custom style from Format > Load Style.

Are you perchance using a template when creating the new score? Those settings take precedence. You can easily then create your own custom template by creating a score from whatever template you like, loading the score, then saving the result your own Templates folder (next to your Scores folder).
