Hide piano parts but still hear them playing on Musescore 4
This question has appeared before but the solution didn't work for my SATB piece with piano, as below.
The advice was to click the down arrow between the eye and Piano name in the Instrument Panel (F7) and then the eyes for the Treble and Bass clefs, but not the one for Piano itself. But clicking any of the eyes turns them all off, so no sound.

Still works, in both scores I've made in the past and new scores made within 4.5.2 ... and in the score you posted.
One thing: if you have measures selected in staves, only those staves will be played. (This is also the same as previous versions, not sure how long.) You might try de-selecting everything before you start to play.
Almost. Yes, select the down arrow. Select the treble bar just below the arrow. That makes the whole bar turn blue. Now close the treble eye. Do the same for the base.

I didn't have to explicitly select the Tenor or the Bass staves. Just clicked to 'close the eye'. I did have to remember not to have any measures selected in any staff.
For some strange reason the Mixer for that score is entirely empty!?!
If it weren't, you could unmute Piano there

Thanks, and to others who responded, but no sound still even using your returned score Jojo.
The eye is open for Piano but shut for Treble and Bass Clef
Am I missing something in the Mixer? I have the scales at 0 for all parts except Tenor, which I want louder for learning purposes.

As per the Mixers they all sound (except Metronome), just Tenor a bit louder, and indeed all 5 instruments do sound for me
All eyes are open except Piano, so only the SATB show

Intriguing. I've added piano parts just for the introductory bars, and they're silent. But snippets later the piece are audible!

Click the down arrow. Click where I have an X. It turns blue. Then close the treble eye; do the same for the base.

That was the workaround for some older versions of MuseScore Studio 4, it is not needed any longer

Yes, I understand that I can close the piano eye then go to the mixer and un-mute the piano. That involves going to two locations, when it can be done in just one. It just depends on the situation and what makes sense to the user.

Well, thanks all. I tried a different score and it worked exactly as it should! Mystery why the first one refused to do so.

Jojo :: I would think of having to go two places as the "workaround". :-)

The Mixer is where 'the music plays', so the place to go to when muting/unmuting
Hiding an instrument is still muting it by default, but that can get changed nowadays, in Preferences > Audio & MIDI, it couldn't previously, back then making both staves invisble to not mute the entire instrument was the workaround.

Still doesn't make any sense to take action in two different places when you can do it in one place. If the software accepts it, then it works.
