Musesounds Drumset Hi-Hat functionality
Hello!
I've been playing drums and percussion for many years now and have found Musescore to be a tremendously powerful software for notating out complex parts for both my own personal work and for educational purposes Recently, I have been using it to notate and create rough audio files for students, as wells as creating audio demos for combined orchestral and "modern" band music.
One thing I would love to see added natively is more functionality for the Musesound drumsets; namely, support for an open Hi-hat pedal (not just open with the stick). Currently, there exists 3 MIDI note entry options: F#2 for closed Hi-hat w/stick, A#2 for open Hi-hat w/stick, and G#2 for closed Hi-hat w/foot. A common technique is to play Hi-hat splashes where the pedal is clamped with the foot and quickly released, behaving like a small Piatti. I would love to see another note assigned to this sound.
A potentially easy solution would be to duplicate the open Hi-hat w/stick sound to another MIDI note entry and the note would appear on the page exactly like the open Hi-hat w/stick's "CircledX" notehead, except it would be on the Pedal Hi-hat staff space, which I believe the default is D below the staff.
Recently, I have been trying to notate some drum patterns that involve both Hi-hat foot "splashes" and open stick notes in short succession. I have found some work-arounds, but they are honestly quite a headache, and they don't look very professional on the page. Maybe there is already a way to manually duplicate the drum sounds to another MIDI entry like described above, but currently, I am unaware of anyway to do that.
In the provided example image, I replace the CircleX notehead with a normal X, and used Open and Closed articulation symbols to show the mechanics. Parenthetical notes represent ghost notes as per usual.
Pardon the long explanation. Thank you!
