Switch from SATB in 2 staves to 4 staves in layout

• May 8, 2025 - 16:56

I'm working on choir anthems, which mostly feature SATB textures in 2 staves with piano accompaniment. However, occasionally it is beneficial to split into 4 staves for a page or two in particularly complicated textures or when briefly going to expanded voices (SSAATTBB). How is that done in the layout? Do I need 6 staves (SA, TB, SS, AA, TT, BB) and then choose to hide empty staves? Also, there are usually some arrows at the end of a page or system (expanding out (crescendo style) when going to 4 staves, or imploding (decrescendo style) when going to 2))

Yes (and insert system breaks properly)

Yes, available in the symbols palette of the master palettes (search for "divide" there).

Need to get manually adjusted in y-direction when being added to a barline and stick out a bit into the page border, but otherwise look quite OK
