Joining two eighth notes across staves with a beam while keeping their stems in opposite directions

• May 11, 2025 - 00:01

My score is in ¾ time. In one measure, the second beat is two eighth notes. The first eighth note is the A below middle C in the bass clef with the stem going up and the second eighth note is middle C in the treble clef with the stem going down. How do I join those two notes with a beam while keeping the stems in opposite directions?

The only way I know of would be to enter both notes in the Bass clef. Select the middle C an hit the Cross staff notation icon in the tool bar. Move the note up.

Use cross staff notation and the drag the beam to where you want it.

I was going to post an example but Musescore 3.7 seems to have major problems with stem positioning with this at the mo. more on this later...
