Receiving feedback on scores I have made.
Hi there,
I was wondering if there are people in the MuseScore community who are expert musicians and can provide feedback on the music scores that we create and upload using MuseScore. I played the piano a lot as a kid and gradually switched to guitar. As such, I have been using the piano scores from books I own and been translating them into guitar versions myself. I am just wondering if anybody would be able to provide some feedback for me on the way I have written out some songs.
Here is a sample I made of the song "Question" by the Moody Blues. I own a piano/guitar/vocal book of their music.. It is called the "Moody Blues Collection" and was published by Hal Leonard. I wrote the song using the actual chords from the sheet music.
Thanks

Hi.
I think for the strums -especially if you care about how your score sounds- you should use the ascending and descending arpeggio symbols as appropriate (considering that a downstroke is an ascending arpeggio and vice versa). These are in the Arpeggios palette. If you don’t see it, add it.
When you select one of these symbols, go to Properties and click on Playback. There, choose a value around 0.2 depending on how dry (fast) you want the stroke to be.
It would also be good if, in those strums, you removed the lower notes (strings) to make them more realistic.
Something like keeping only the 4 or 5 highest notes sounding for downstrokes and the 3 or 4 highest notes for upstrokes.
If you don’t understand something, ask.
The Made with MuseScore sub-forum (https://musescore.org/en/forum/159) is intended "to show off what you've scored with MuseScore". That would be a place to do what you want. I would recommend asking explicitly for constructive criticism to make people less concerned about giving you negative, but hopefully constructive, feedback.
