Keyboard shortcut to highligt and scroll through main menu

• May 18, 2025 - 03:16

Was wondering what keyboard shortcut I can use to highlight the main menu (File, Edit, etc) and how to move from one menu item to another. In some aps like LibreOffice it's F6, but that's on Mac. Is this command particular to MuseScore, or is it Linux wide?

Is there any list I can go to for all keyboard shortcuts?

Menu path:
Edit > Preferences > Shortcuts > click SHORTCUT column header (ascending or descending order)

On Windows, it's (almost always!) the Alt key to activate the menus. That works in MuseScore (on Windows). In most/many Windows apps, you can then use the "nmemonic" shortcuts (underlined characters) to select a particular menu option. Until v.4.5, you could select the top-level menu with these, but not items on the menu. Since 4.5, you can select the top-level menu and the items on it, but not the items from the submenus. Confusing!!!

It doesn't look like this is listed in Edit / Preferences / Shortcuts. I'm'a guess (WAG! :-) that's because it's a Windows thing rather than a MuseScore shortcut.
