Crash on playback + automatic note input
Since the addition of the "input by duration" feature, starting the playback automatically switches on the "input by note name" mode and starts adding notes until Muse Score hangs/crashes. This is most easily reproducable if anything on the score is selected when you start the playback, but sometimes happens if nothing is selected.
macOS 12.7, Arch.: x86_64,
MuseScore Studio version (64-bit): 4.5.2-251141402,
revision: ac9d3bc
To reproduce:
- Turn on "input by note name" and add notes to the score.
- Turn off "input by note name". Select the note you want the playback to start from.
- Start the playback either by pressing the space key or the Play button on the toolbar.
=> "Input by note name" turns on automatically, and notes start getting automatically added to the stave
and are played until Muse Score hangs or crashes.

I am unable to replicate this on my computer. I used both your score and two different scores that I created (one some time ago, the other just now). I tried exactly what you described. Then tried each input mode with both Space and Play to start playback. In no case did I see anything like what you describe: All worked normally.

Thank you for giving it a go, TheHutch!
I wonder if it happens on MacOS only...

"I wonder if it happens on MacOS only..."
Nope...I tried it several times two hours ago (with a same MacOS 12.7, Arch.: x86_64, and same 4.5.2)
I didn't notice anything in particular.
Are you using MuseSounds, or MS Basic or other soundfont, VST etc. ?
I've narrowed it down. This seems to happen only if MIDI input is enabled: MuseScore Studio > Preferences > Note input > MIDI devices > Enable MIDI input
The crash happens whether or not a MIDI device is plugged in. I've turned MIDI input off for now.

I don't have a MIDI device on my computer, so...
What's yours?

I don't have one either, but the setting was on.
