How to show and update UI/windows while in a processing loop

Hi everybody

I'd like to show a progress window while my plugin is in the middle of its processing loop. However, I've found that if I open a new window, it won't display until my plugin has finished processing.

What's the correct way to allow MuseScore to update windows/UI etc., without returning control back to MuseScore?
