Importing Scores from Noteflight

• May 24, 2025 - 19:47

This may have been covered before, but I have some scores in Noteflight (https://www.noteflight.com) and I realised that Musescore has specific instruments that are not in noteflight (and they are free) that i need. Therefore I need to import them.
What file type do I need to download from Noteflight, but it gives me many formats (as shown in the screenshot attached.
What do I need to do to get it into MuseScore?
I have read that I should download the mxl (or xml, I do not know) and then right click on it to say 'open with' > 'MuseScore' - but, I am in an unusual situation. I use a Chromebook. I am not shore how many people seeing this use chromebooks but what it involves is installing a linux environment and then running the following commands separately in a penguin terminal:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install libnss3 kmenuedit fuse
wget https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/musescore/v4.2.0/MuseScore-4.2.0.233521125-x86…
chmod 755 MuseScore-4.2.0.233521125-x86_64.AppImage
./MuseScore-4.2.0.233521125-x86_64.AppImage
kmenuedit

This is because installing it in Google Play installs some practice app, not notation software.

Therefore, I cannot just right-click on a file to open it.
I have tried moving the file (both XML and MXL) to my linux folder and right clicking, but that doesn't work, and tried moving it into Linux files > Documents > Musecore4 > Scores, and then I can go into Musecore and click open other on the homepage, I then can click on either the xml or mxl files, which do open, but look like something on the second screen shot attached and most of the sounds are wrong (eg. a lot being replaced by whistles???). The only instrument that genuinely seems to be fine all the time is the electric bass (not tablature) (which is great as it is my main instrument, but it would be better if the other instruments worked as well).
before it opens it does give me the message shown in the third screen shot.
Could anyone help me import these scores (There are actually 5ish scores that I need to import)?

Thankyou,

Images don't help as much as a score would. I think the Play version is a portable one.
You said wrong sounds where playing. That's why I mentioned using the mixer to see what instruments are loaded and then change them. I don't know what your last image is supposed to look like.
