String setting sound like harsh pizz

My violin, viola and cellos playback as harsh pizz rather than bowing tones. I have found a work-around that works 80% of the time. I can go to the mixer, select each individual instrument, select "Sound Font", then select "MS Basic", then select "Strings", then select my violin, viola, etc.

This is a new problem.
