Inputting Rests in "Input by Duration" in Conjunction with a Midi Keyboard
Hello all!
The "Input by Duration" method in the latest update has been truly remarkable, and has helped me to make scores much faster. Something that I find getting in the way of putting music on the page is inputting rests. I often have to undo my work because of the lack of this feature.
To describe this feature request I will explain how it is right now with the midi keyboard (with the steps to key input), then I will explain the future request. NOTE: I will only be explaining the rhythmic aspect of the input, not the pitch. With each sounding pitch, please assume that I am also holding down the corresponding pitch on the midi keyboard. The pitch(es) themselves are also not the topic of conversation.
Currently to make the (figure 1)
1: enter rest mode (0)
2: 5
3: exit rest mode (0)
4: 4
5: 4
6: enter rest mode (0)
7: 4
8: exit rest mode (0)
9: 4
10: enter rest mode (0)
11: 4
12: exit rest mode (0)
13: 4
COMPLETE PASSAGE
Now I will explain the feature request more thoroughly. Rather than making the rest a toggle, I wonder if it were possible to make it to where if I am not pressing the midi keyboard the note will register as a rest. (Remember, I am only explaining the rhythmic aspect and not the pitch. As far as pitch is concerned it will be the same.)
Here is the lack of rest toggle to make (figure 1)
1: 5
2: 4
3: 4
4: 4
5: 4
6: 4
7: 4
COMPLETE PASSAGE
As you can see, by removing the toggle rest mode there was a reduction in keystrokes by 6. The only difference is that the midi keyboard is REQUIRED in order to make this happen. I wonder if there could be a check box added to Musescore Studio to make this happen. Thank you for your time in reading my thoughts.
