Slurs
I cannot enter slurs over notes when the stems go up. The slur will go over only the first two notes, and attempts to stretch the slur further simply don't work. When stems go down, there is no problem. Please help!

How do you stretch the slur?
Click on the first note. Shift+click on the last note. Press the S key or click the slur button on the toolbar. Dragging things does not work well in MuseScore; you should avoid it where ever possible.

I have not had problem entering slurs as described here upper or lower stems. My problem is the Musescore instruments ignores them and articulates each note.

MuseScore doesn't play slurs at all.
Not for upstem nor for downstem
Adjust Slur Settings: In Sibelius or Finale, check the slur properties and make sure it’s set to extend over all notes.
Flip Stem Direction: Change stem direction (press X in Sibelius or Ctrl+Shift+F in Finale) if needed.
Manually Adjust Slur: Grab and adjust the slur's curve to stretch over the notes.
