How to duplicate additional barlines

• Jun 16, 2025 - 19:37

Hi all, I'm planning on composing a piece that uses composite time signatures (3+4 / 4), and have it as a custom time signature with base value of 7. This means I have to add an additional barline in the middle of each bar to seperate the bar into 3 and 4, and figure out a way of manipulating with the bar number. Is there a way to add the additional barline for all the bars? I tried adding it to the first 2 then copy-pasting it, but the barline doesnt move. And also, how do I manipulate the bar numbers?

As you have done, make a piece in 7/4 and change the properties of the time signature to 3+4 over 4. Populate the score with crotchets/quarter-notes.

Now, select the 4th note of any measure, right-click and choose Select >More >Same beat. Now click on the barline in the palette.

This gives a nice split effect. If you want all the barlines to extend across both staves you can choose any split barline in the right hand, right-click and do Select >Similar. Go to the Properties tab and make sure the "Span to next stave" box is checked.
