Instrument Numeration

Add support for vertical instrument numeration
As of now, one has to tediously add in tabs/spaces in the instrument names in peculiar ways to get vertical instrument numbers (shown in Bb Clarinets in file) in the correct places depending on how you want it to look in the score. You also have to alter the line spacing to get the numbers more in vertical alignment. Even after these alterations they are still a bit offset. And when this is all complete, the names then appear enormous and messy in the Layout tab. It would be simpler if there were simply an option to add these numbers, as a separate object.

Personally, I think you've gone to way too much trouble to make this happen. This is a huge 2 page file. 1 page of which is empty. What with all the hidden instruments. Can you imagine what size a full piece will be. I can understand you want a certain look. I think there are easier ways to do it. Without relying so heavily on the part properties window.

Apologies for the confusion - please disregard the page size and the extra invisible/current instruments other than Bb Clarinet and solely look at the instrument name for Bb Clarinet.

The only thing that I am wanting to highlight is the strenuous process in the staff/part properties window (which you pointed out). It is within my understanding that, at the present moment, there is no easier way to do it. I found this way to create vertical instrument numbers online with the instrument names, while searching for this option, and I didn't find any other way.

These vertical instrument numbers are used by some publishers (like Alfred Music) in their conductor scores to indicate that multiple players are using a particular staff. If there was a way to add these numbers as a separate text object, that would remove much of the time strain and inaccuracy involved in manipulating the instrument names with spaces/tabs, as well as clean up the mess it causes in the Layout tab.

I am aware of the numbering system. I think it is amazing that you worked out all the needed spacing. I am much to lazy to do that.
Consider the attached score. This is the MuseScore concert band template. I see the layout of the location of the instrument names differs from from your score. You have them to the left, rather than close to the staves. Anyway, I did something similar to your score with the clarinets. I did not include the instrument name in the Staff properties. The numbers are included and seem to line up OK. The instrument name is some kind of text. I selected the first measure of the 1st clarinet staff and added "normal" from the Text palette. Then changed it to "Clarinets in Bb" and dragged it in between the clarinet staves. Same for the short name for the second page. The drawback here is that you'd have to do the short name for every page.

I think after I combined instruments, I would delete rather than hide anything. I realize you aren't done with this. I hid the third Clarinet part here, as you did, just to get through the process.

Just my thoughts.
