5 4 time note entry
I am creating a piece in 5 4 time, and wish often to enter a note to last the whole bar, namely a semibreve tied to a crotchet.
This is cumbersome. Is there a slicker way to do it?

Depending on your rhythm, it may be more appropriate to use a dotted half note tied to a half note (dotted minima to minima) or vice versa, but this is exactly as cumbersome.
There is no "slicker" way to make five beats.
Looks like that's the default way MuseScore fills a 5/4 measure. Put a Longa note in a 5/4 measure to see for yourself.

Yes, duration 9 fills a number of bars, albeit correctly, but I only want one bar.

Sorry. All I meant was to look at the first measure. On my system, it's a 4 beat note tied to a 1 beat note. Whole note tied to a quarter note. There doesn't seem to be a 5 beat note.
Or were you asking if there was a faster way to enter it?

Yeh I wondered if it could be done (there was no duration shortcut for 5 crotchets worth) - I was hoping there might be a quick way to save time. Understand now why there isn't, so I have to enter a semibreve followed by a crotchet, or a dotted minim followed by a minim.

Probably not any faster to enter a double whole note, then start entering notes in the beginning of the following measure. Just depends on the situation.
