capo chord symbols
The reference in the index leads me to believe that bracketed chord symbols will be applied to a score. I have actually done this at least once before, but clicking on the reference in the index takes me nowhere.

But indeed you can have parentheses around chord symbols in a score.
You can also have these as additional chord symbols when a capo is applied (and configured in Format> Style > Chord symbols)
