Display music as koto notation
This plugin opens the current score using the KotoViewer Java program, which displays it as koto notation. More information about KotoViewer is available here: http://sites.google.com/site/razvanswebsite/shakuhachi/software.
Since plugins are handled differently in the legacy MuseScore 1 and the new Musescore 2, two versions of the plugin are made available:
- For MuseScore 1: Download the attached ZIP file OpenInKotoViewer.zip and extract the plugin file called
OpenInKotoViewer.js, then install it in MuseScore. For plugin installation instructions see: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/plugins.
- For MuseScore 2: Download the attached ZIP file OpenInKotoViewer-v2.zip and extract the plugin file called
OpenInKotoViewer.qml, then install it in MuseScore. For plugin installation instructions see: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/plugins-0.
NOTE: After installing the plugin in the appropriate MuseScore directory, you need to change the variable
KV_PATH in the plugin file to point to the actual location where KotoViewer is installed on your computer.
The plugin will appear as a menu entry in the Plugins menu called Open in KotoViewer. When you select it, the currently opened score will be converted automatically to MusicXML format, and saved in the directory where KotoViewer is installed as
In case you encounter any errors (KotoViewer doesn't start, no score is displayed, etc.):
- For MuseScore 1: Please check the log messages available in
plugin_stdout.txt, both in the directory where KotoViewer is installed.
- For MuseScore 2: Plugin output is not yet saved as the procedure to do it is not clear, so you will need to run the standalone KotoViewer from the command line and check the output directly.
