Thank you for your interest in contributing to the MuseScore project! Contributors are MuseScore's most valuable asset, and are the main force behind making the notation software and its support services rock solid. On this page you will find several areas of MuseScore that you can contribute to.

Provide user support

Even the most knowledgeable MuseScore experts were new once—and chances are someone has helped you at some point along the way. No matter what your skill level may be, you can give back by sharing what you know with other users. It's a nice thing to do, and you might learn more from others, too! The MuseScore Community maintains collaboratively written handbooks and a collection of help pages.

Provide online support: help in the forum.
Contribute to documentation: handbook, tutorials, how-to's.

Testing and bug reporting

Visit How to write a good bug report: step-by-step instructions. If you have a keen eye for detail, or even just a knack for breaking things, you can accelerate the development of the next version of MuseScore by testing in-progress previews. Good testing directly contributes to the stability of the software, and it's an excellent way for people of all backgrounds to make an immensely valuable. Download MuseScore Nightly version here.

Translations

Visit translations instructions. MuseScore supports many languages from around the world, but not all of them, and some translations are incomplete. If you know another language, you can contribute by helping translate MuseScore into your other language.

Design and usability

Visit Proposing a change to design if you wish to help shape future design efficiently. You can also chat and exchange ideas with others in a relevant forum. People deeply experienced with MuseScore may lack perspective on how things appear to those starting fresh, or transitioning from a competing commercial product. Are you helping someone who has never used MuseScore before? Or are you new to MuseScore yourself? Do you have experience with other notation software?

Spread the word

Visit reference for product color palette and list of places to download graphics such as brand icon and logo. Chat with others in documentation forum and add your creation. Help get the word out about MuseScore, put your graphic design skills or marketing savvy to work in promoting MuseScore and spreading the word.
