Multi-measure rests

Werner Schweer added experimental support for multi-measure rests on 20 December. Multi-measure rests are an important requirement for ensemble sheet music and a frequent feature request.

At the time of this writing the implementation is incomplete but basic support for multi-measure rests is working in revision 1384 or later. Prereleases for 0.9.4 are available for testing on Windows or Linux.
Instructions for multi-measure rests:
- From the menu choose Style → Edit Style
- Click on the "Score" tab if it is not already selected
- Add a check mark next to "Create Multi Measure Rests"
I'm trying to work with multi-measure rests and I must be missing something.
When making the change in 'Edit Style' I seem to get random multi-measure increments.
I'ld like to know how to insert a multi-measure rest exactly where I need it.
Is there a basic How To written on it yet?
I am using 0.9.4 r1518 on Win XP SP3.
I used the Multi-rest feature soon after I started a long piece of music and it seemed to be very effective. However, there was a multi-bar rest at the end as I was in the early stages of the piece. When I began to enter in this area - crash. I had saved the piece so I reloaded. This time the 1st 8 bars (multi-rest) were divided into a 7 bar multi and a single bar. As i moved the brealks around, this changed to 2 - 4 bar multis, then 4 2 bar multis, each of these were accompanied by crashes. I reloaded and removed the multi bar feature - crash. reload, remove, save. Close, reopen - The piece is back now in original format - no multi-bar.
I now added more info and tried the multi again. It worked, although the chosen format for the 1st 8 bars is 7 bars multi and 1 other bar. I saved, went back to style and removed the multi and no crashes.
I will not reuse the multi again in this piece until the whole piec is laid out.
Cheers.
The "Create multi-measure rests" option searches for consecutive full-measure rests throughout the entire piece and converts them all to "multi-measure rests". This is something you would want to do at the end of editing a piece or to an individual part created from a full score.
Thanks David,
Best regards,
Don
The picture pretty much explains the problem. I never touched the measures while I was transcribing the notes. Sometimes it's worse, with several multi-measure rests being formed. (note, the total count is correct, it's suppose to be 44 measures of rest.)
Also, while having this feature activated it to crashes very often.

AJMB,
It looks like some of your measures are tagged to break a multi-measure rests. (Right click on an empty part of the measure and choose "Measure Properties...". Then remove the check mark next to "break multi-measure rests".) If you have further questions please use the Forums.
Is it possible to:
- Uncheck the "break multi-measure rest" for multiple measures (it looks like that's the default when importing musicXML?
Additionally:
- It looks like it's impossible to uncheck it on the 1st measure.
