Let's say you want to create a new score, select "create a new score from scratch", add a piano to the instrument list, set the key to c major, don't modify any time signature details and press finish. When I press finish I get the following error: "mscore.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." Here are a few details from the error report:
AppName: mscore.exe ModName: qtcore4.dll ModVer: 4.5.0.0 Offset: 00171dc8
Something else I've noticed: If I have other MuseScore files opened when I try to create the new score, then the error doesn't happen. To make the error happen you have to start musescore, close any files you have opened and then create the new score.
I can reproduce with the given instruction:
- Ctrl + W to close all open scores included the demo one
- Ctrl + N
- Create from scratch -> Next
- Add piano -> Next
- Next
- Next
--> crash
And the same thing when:
- Ctrl + W to close all open scores included the demo one
- Ctrl + N
- Create from scratch -> Next
- Add piano -> Next
- Double click Key Signature
- Crach

I can reproduce with the given instruction:

I can confirm the bug when double clicking the key signature in the new wizard. This is fixed in 1652. I cannot reproduce the original crash.
