Ok. Did you follow these exact steps?

  • MuseScore is off
  • Plug and switch on your keyboard
  • Start MuseScore and go to Edit ->Preferences -> IO. What do you see in PortMidi box at the bottom? If you see the name of your keyboard or something close, it should be ok
  • Create a new score, press N, and press one key of your keyboard

I shut the computer off - unpluged yhe keyboard and turned it off
while ti is off i pluged the keaboard in to the computer and switched it on
Than I turned on the computer
than I went to Musescore to Edit --Preference--iO--AT PORTMIDI BOX --
It Reads --MMSystem,usb,Midi.
Thats All.

I opened a new score -- entered a rest --
the Midi in the tool bar is eather white or shaded
i tried both white and shaded
when i pressed N on eather one --IT DOSENT ACCEPT THE KEABOARD NOTE.
The blue line is in back of the blue rest. --I can place a chosen note with the mouse.
i am SORRY.

I called Yamaha, they told me to call Hosa Tec to get a driver for the Midi cable ,ao I did
as soon as i get the driiver i will let you know. after i get it installed i will see if it works.

Its me again .--Yamaha said to reverse the in and out cables so I shut down keaboard and the computer
so I put the IN cable in the OUT port and the OUT cable in the IN port in the keyboard ..--than I followed your
instructiions as above and IT WORKS . Nowhere in the Yamaha instruction book said to do this..I wont need a driver now.

I am verry greatful for your help. now i can start my work
THANKS AGAIN Clifford Pieper
