Multiple short exercises on one page
Hi. New to the forum, so I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to post this question. I am trying to write several short compositional exercises for elementary students. The exercises are in various keys and time signatures and consist of 4 measures of music followed by 4 blank measures for the student to fill in. I want to include at least three of these exercises per page (total of 6 systems - 3 exercises with 8 measures each). Each is an independent composition/exercise, and I would prefer to not waste paper by having to save each 8-measure exercise as a separate file (and then have to print each on a separate page). However, when I put an ending bar at the end of measure 8, the program insists on including the new time signature and key signature for the next composition (because it thinks the next measure is still a part of the first exercise). Is there a way to do what I'm describing, or is musescore going to limit my ability?

The simple answer is you need to be in page view and put the line breaks and page breaks where you want them to make the lines the correct length. The menu Layout|Page Settings... lets you adjust the scaling if the system are too big or small, just adjust a little at a time until you get the results you like.

Also you can use Section Break to prevent courtesy signatures and clefs from appearing at the start of each exercise. And use text frames for titles etc. The link mentioned above might be non-working, but basically, it's just suggesting you use the "Search for help" feature on this very site (see top right of this page).

That was just a link to try to do the search for you, but I guess the structure of the site has changed. Just do the search yourself if you need more information than what is already in this trhead - type the appropriate terms into the "Search for help" box at top right of this page,

It appears that all three exercises on the page must be either treble or base clef. If I change clefs on the third exercise, a courtesy clef appears at the end of the second exercise. All courtesies are unchecked (Style/General/Page dialogue), yet it insists. The same is somewhat true for key signatures, but in a very weird way. The second exercise is in A; I would like the third to be in F. The signature on the first line of #3 shows an F# preceded on the staff by C and G naturals? No courtesy at the end of #2 (thankfully), but what the??? I can't seem to get rid of it.

right-click -> make invisible

The right click thing did the trick, although I had tried it before without success. Gave it another try, and this time it worked. Go figure... Anyway, I'm reasonably happy at this point. Thanks again.

Unchecking the option to show courtesy key signature shold have worked. Posting the score would help us figure out what might have gone wrong. Maybe the clef change gopets in the way? But indeed, you can hide courtesy key signatures individually as well.

Funny thing is, the option box was already unchecked. So I tried checking it, saving, and unchecking again with another save, and still no joy. I figured maybe it just needed a little wake-up. Anyway, the hide option worked. While I appreciate the software doing some of the thinking for me, there are times when I wish a program would just let me do what I want to do, right or wrong, because it's not yet at the point of reading my mind. Anyway, I'm on to the next challenge.

I've removed the courtesy clef, but the program still thinks the third exercise is in base clef and has arranged the key signature accordingly. I've tried every trick I can think of to get the sharp on the correct line, but no joy. Pic of the problem is attached.

Again, posting an actual score (not just a picture of one) usually helps. But my guess from the picture is that you added the wrong clef. That's not an ordinary treble clef at all - see how it sits lower on the staff than normal? That's the French violin clef. Replace it with the regular treble clef and you should be good to go.

You are correct. I was creating on the fly and didn't even notice I had grabbed the wrong clef! Problem fixed! You rock, Marc!!!
Have read the thread. I have the problem that I want to place more melodies on one sheet. I have seen the excersise but it does not tell me how to do. I attach 2 melodies and I want to ad another melodi on the same page. But it maybe impossible. Here you have the to melodies that I want to print on one page

Take one of them, apend a vertical frame, in that enter title etc. append enough measures, set up correct time and key sig, copy and past the other score. Disable courcety key- and time signature. As a bonus alter the first measure to substract the numbers of measures from the first score from the measure counter
Here there are different instruments used, so you need to add it and after having entered all the notes 'hide empty staves'

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer. I succeeded making 3 different scores on one page.
New question: I have made a Template with 3 lines Voice, Alt-Sax and B Clarinette. My template is C-major. Ihave written a score and by cupy and paste I have realized that the program wonderfully tranpone the scoe to Sax a-major and Clarinette D-major. Then I tried to change the c-major in the first line to D-major. But it did not change the other lines at once. Is there a way to do that. I attach my testscore

It's not clear from your post if you realize that it is correct to put the alto in A and clarinet in D - they are transposing instruments. Turn on the Concert Pitch button to display everything at sounding pitch - all parts in the same key - then then it off before printing the parts to put each instrument where it belongs.
Anyhow, if you wish to change keys within a score, you currently have to change each staff separately (2.0 improves this). Make the change with concert pitch turned on so at least it will be the same key in all staves.
