MuseScore is beginning to have quite a number of document settings but not many instrument settings. I would like to see in MuseScore something in the style of the attached Igor Engraver dialog window. This would solve for example the problem of different handling of transposing instruments.

Have you seen the Staff Properties dialog? It deals with long name, short name, transposition, etc. Right click on the empty part of a staff and choose "Staff Properties..."
OK; Staff Properties dialog was nice and a good start. However, one should be able to choose if the settings there are to be applied locally or globally; now they are only local from what I saw. Another thing is that I think all menu commands available in a program should be accessible from the menu bar and that hitting the menu key with an object selected corresponds to clicking an object with the secondary mouse button. A third thing is that the text fields Long instrument name and Short instrument name have tab enabled so when using tab to navigate to one of these fields one gets stuck there.
