Footer text not honoring text alignment, loses carriage returns and italic/bold upon re-edit

Text entered into the left footer editor under Style/General/Headers defaults to left-aligned during entry, and always displays left-aligned on the page. Any alignment adjustment done during entry is ignored. Likely the header text works the same way. Text entered into the right footer editor also is default left-aligned, but always come out right-aligned on the page.

Bold/italic/underline and carriage returns appear to work on page, but when you go back to the respective editor, carriage returns have been turned into spaces, and all text formatting changes (alignment, bold, etc) are gone.
