Ability to Drag Dynamic Lines in one Go

• Jun 26, 2018 - 16:28

...For MuseScore to be programmed to recognize that hairpins form part of dynamic lines. Thus it should be possible quickly to select (e.g. by shift-clicking start and end) a single dynamic line, e.g.:

 pppmf

…and drag it up and/or down, all in one go. It is a single line of instruction for volume, (just as a melody is a single line of instruction for pitch).

At present, the user is obliged to click each single element of the dynamic line (nine in the example above) and drag them all to the required position separately. This takes an unnecessary eternity.

As mentioned elsewhere, you don't need Ctrl+click - instead, range select, right click, Select / All Similar Elements in Range Selection is much faster. And MsueScore 3 will already position dynamics and hairpins to avoid notes. There will also be a new built-in element type that basically combines the dynamic and hairpin into one. So the issue is "largely" moot. That said, there is still the issue of the ending dynamic potentially needing a separate adjustment.

I'd recommend you try downloading a nightly build of "master" to get a sense of how much of what you want is already there - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised! And then if there are still areas for improvement, you can be more specific about that.
