Tantacrul is a very talented software designer, a composer - oh, and he's Irish and very, very amusing.
Definitely worth taking him seriously: his previous video about Sibelius and its design was pretty cruel... But I thought his review of MuseScore was quite even-handed. In all his videos on YouTube he is constructive as well as destructive!
I don't see that this is related to the thread to which you responded, but for the record, no, this is not implemented. Or more to the point, it is implemented internally for potential inclusion in some future version but is not yet released. Instead, you can use the Mixer to solo the desired staves.
EDIT: I take it back, I see now the video link does indeed highlight that particular part of the video, so yes, this was related. Just wasn't obvious because nowhere did anyone write about this.
I see, hopefully this will be included eventually!

Yeah, it's not obvious... I just assumed that this is what this post was about.
As I recall it was in a beta version but pulled before the actual release because of user complaints. Going to show, what’s intuitive to one person is often counterintuitive to another and vice versa. It’s still a great feature most of us would like to see return, so far we just haven’t settled on whether to make it a separate command, whether to have a preference for how it works, or what.
I'd just make it trigger with a different keyboard shortcut. ctrl+space to start playback of selected staves, space on its own for regular playback... or maybe it's a deeper feature than I realize and requires more thought.
No, what you have suggested is my personal suggestion as well. But not surprisingly, different people have different opinions, and with enough other things in the world to deal with, so far coming to consensus on this just hasn't been a priority yet. I have no doubt it will be for MuseScore 4, but I also see no particular reason it couldn't be solved tomorrow...
I like this idea... this might already be a thing but a "Play from beginning"- shortcut would be amazing as well.
Something like
Space = Play everything starting from the currently selected note
[Shift + Space] = Play only selected notes
[Ctrl + Space] = Play the whole score from beginning
I should note that there is also an important design principle that things should be "discoverable", meaning that keyboard shortcuts shouldn't be the only way to accomplish them. So that leads to ideas like, having a dropdown menu next to the play button to switch the actual button itself between the two modes. Kind of like how the note input button works, except I don't think anyone is that big a fan of this either, so probably a better solution still could be devised.

I'm "honored" to have received some particular attention :-)

Am I correct in thinking this hasn't been implemented yet?
I can't seem to get it to work.

I recall it was available a few versions ago and then was taken out for some reason. Why was it removed?

Nope, found a few references to it, seems there were some teething problems.

Yes, this would be very handy too, and the shortcuts can be user customized.

Click and hold on the button to select different tools (this is how the latest version of GIMP handles this situation).
