  1. Open attached score.
  2. Highlight notes.
  3. Select "small" under chord in inspector.

Result: Stems of un-beamed notes shorten, but beamed notes do not.

In general, even if they aren't "small", beamed notes still don't shorten. It's more okay when the notes are regular size, since it would look funny if the beams were too close. But, for small notes, such as in cues, I think the stems should shorten just a little bit.

Here is an example where notes are at normal size:
(Also, I forgot to remove colored notes when save pictures. Sorry.)

Here it is when the notes are "small" under chord in inspector:

And here is how I think it should look when I adjusted the stems manually:

Workaround Yes No

This is also the case when changing stem length under "Notes" in the Style window. Beamed stems stay their full length, even when those around them are dramatically shorter.

Workaround No Yes

I'm not understanding what you mean, the Inspector works just fine for me to affect stem lengths of beamed notes. Probably what you are talking about is something else entirely, best to ask for help on the Support forum and explain what you mean in more detail (ideally with a sample score attached).

Meanwhile, there is a simple enough workaround to the actual issue being discussed here - adjust the beam height manually. So I'm reverting the "Workaround" field to "Yes".
