2.0 to 3.0 workspace transfer

• Dec 3, 2019 - 14:43

hi,
i have a custom workspace in 2.0 that i'd like to move to 3.0. i copied the .workspace file over, but it's not read correctly – only the first 3 out of 17 palettes are showing up, and the 3rd one is incomplete.

is there a better way to transfer the workspace, other than recreating it by exporting individual palettes?

thanks
d

when i save a Palette in 2.0 that has custom cells in it, loading the .mpal file into Musescore 3 doesn't work correctly – none of the custom elements are imported. re-importing into 2.0 works fine.

Hard to say without knowing more about what you are trying to do. But I as I said before, MuseScore 3.4 makes this so much easier, what took you much time in MuseScore 2 might take only a few minutes in MuseScore 3.3. Also, for ordinary fingerings, you wouldn’t normally need to use the palette at all but would be better simply typing the fingerings, using the new facility to automatically move from note to note by pressing Space.

Feel free to explain your needs in greater detail and we can assist better.

3.3 makes it so easy to customize palettes, it's probably simpler / faster to recreate your customize palettes from scratch than to keep messing with trying to make a conversions work. Plus, starting from 2.0 palettes will miss out on a lot of the new things added to 3.0 that you really won't want to be without - the fixed staff spacer, staff type change, arco/pizz that are preconfigured to actually work, etc.
