MuseScore doesn't work on my XP stays grey

I don't know I tried to open templates, to create new score and I don't see a sheet. I run the XP session as an administrator.

The gray background and entirely missing note entry toolbar is different from previously reported issues and screenshots.
Any idea how to fix this?
