Change Time Signatures: 3/4 (with triplets) to 9/8
I was given a score in 3/4 time, with many measures having 9 beats using triplets . . . essentially 9 beats per measure. But the composition clearly belongs in 9/8 time.
Is there an easy way (i.e. minimal manual intervention) to change the time signature to 9/8, whereby:
* quarter notes in 3/4 time become dotted quarters in 9/8 time.
* triplets (one-beat) in 3/4 become simple eighth notes, etc. . .
Thanks in advance!
Rob

There is no built-in way for Musescore to do that. Think of it this way, when you write notation in Musescore, in the background, Midi events with specific lengths are written. You are asking Musescore to adjust the lengths of these midi events. Your example would have 3 eighth notes that currently have midi event lengths of 2 eighth notes (each one shortened by a 3rd) be lengthened to 3 eighth notes. Having said that, a plugin COULD be programed that does that.
I have a wish list also. I wish I could change 3 eighth notes to 3 16th notes and have Musescore automatically reposition the notes. It doesn't do that because the midi events are at a certain position. If you try it now, it will put a 16th rest between each 16th note. I know a plugin could be programmed that does it.

Thanks Steve. Yes, that is the way I currently do it, but it would be nice if it did it automatically. No more cutting and pasting. Maybe you can help me with another wish list. Is there a way to move a note, by clicking and dragging, left past a rest with the rest moving to the other side of the note. Sort of like how MS Word works if you want to move a word? I don't think there is a way.

I don't like drag/drop in Musescore. In some cases it is quite difficult to hit the drop zone accurately. Again cut and paste is the way I would do it ctrl+X, left, ctrl+V - done. Or more likely I would just enter the note where I want it and delete it where I don't. But I am a dedicated keyboard user and avoid the mouse as far as possible during note entry. I can pretty much touch type most things so that when I am transcribing something I can keep my eyes in the source.
