MuseScrore 3.6 appImage will not run in my Linux laptop

• Jan 28, 2021 - 18:26

I have run MuseScore previous versions for years successfully.
Downloaded v 3.6. This is a Debian Linux machine ( earlier version of Debian - 2016).
I checked to make sure it had executable permission.

Double-clicking it fails. I tried running from the command line, and received the following:

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libjack.so.0
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnss3.so
/tmp/.mount_MuseSc1D5BPn/bin/mscore-portable: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.21' not found (required by /tmp/.mount_MuseSc1D5BPn/bin/mscore-portable)

Appears to need some dependencies? I thought appImages contained all the dependencies.

Thanks for any help,

Phil

AppImages contain most of the dependencies but not quite all. They rely on the distribution to provide some core functionality, such as a not-too-ancient version of glibc. It appears your version of glibc is slightly too old.

You must be using a distribution that's several years old; most likely Debian 8 (Jessie). Jessie was released in 2015 and is no longer supported by Debian, so it is also not supported by us.
