Musescore has stopped extracting parts from the score!

• Aug 31, 2014 - 21:53

I have searched all over and can find no mention of this problem. I have extracted parts from dozens and dozens of scores, with little difficulty. On my latest arrangement, I extracted 3 of 9 parts routinely. I then tried another, only to get the notice that:
"mscore.exe has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
From this point, I can do nothing but close the program and try again--about 15 times so far! It may be interesting that I was able on my 6th or 7th attempt to get another part extracted, but nothing since.
I am using Version 1.3, Revision 5702 on Windows 8.1OS

I click the :parts" tab under "file", click "new", type in the title, click the appropriate part box, then hit "create part". As I said, I have done exactly this for many other arrangements with 100% success in the past [Thanks for this fine program, developers, btw!]. Why it chooses to stop working is way beyond my pay grade. Any help will be greatly appreciated! I need this arrangement ASAP.

It would help if you posted the score you are having problems with - there isn't much we can do without that.

I know some versions of MsueScore have problems with scores that incorrectly have voltas on staves other than the top. I thought that had been fixed for 1.3, but maybe some other related problem, and fixing the score would allow parts to be generated.

You could also try loading into 2.-0 Beta 1 and seeing what happens.

I don't do change very well: I learn something, become proficient, and don't generally care to go outside my comfort zone. Sometimes we are forced out!
I will work at this one.
Thanks all for the support--I literally could not have gotten this arrangement out on time if not for you folks. I really do appreciate you and this wonderful program.

I am impressed with the increase in my ability to deal with the nuts and bolts of my arranging. That is not the musical, creative part of it but it has to be done. If I can do it quicker and easier, I can get on to the next one!
Now, I just have to re-learn stuff! Thanks for a better version of a good product! And, I appreciate the willingness of people like yourself to explain stuff to a non-techie such as myself.
