MuseScore 4 - Find out why my score is corrupted

• Dec 6, 2022 - 12:05

It's not uncommon that files imported from other software are tagged as corrupted by MuseScore. Some apps create poor scores and the MuseScore verdict is almost always correct.
In most cases it's not that hard to correct the corrupted score. Musescore 3.x pointed us in the good direction with button that revealed the errors in the score.
In MuseScore 4 that button doesn't seem to exist any more. Finding the source of the corruption can be hard. Most of the time the score looks perfectly fine. Is there an easy way to find the errors in a file?

Meanwhile, the workaround is to ignore the error and load the score, then export to MusicXML and load that into MuseScore 3 and see what errors get reported there. At least, in the cases where this has been tried, so far it works.
