1. Create a blank score in 4/4 time
2. Create some measures and fill them with notes
3. Change the next measure to 12/8
4. Insert a new measure before the last 4/4 measure
5. Delete the contents of the last 4/4 measure
6. You will be able to enter 6 quarter notes instead of 4
