Transposition

• Mar 27, 2024 - 10:29

Transposition seems much more complicated than it could be. If I load a song with a handy sax part for our band and spot its in the wrong key, I'd really like to go to the transpose tool and either choose the new key or how many semitones - or both (see attached).

Also on transposition; the chords don't get transposed, only the notes.
Also also, it didn't seem to handle accidentals correctly on transposition. I'll try and get an example of the problem when I get some time.

Hi, thanks for the reply; I think I got confused because Transpose to key wasn't available, I think, because I hadn't done a select all before choosing transpose; I'd selected all the notes. I was also a bit confused because I was transposing a part for alto sax and I wasn't expected the chords to be in the same key as the sax; I envisaged the chords to be in concert but the notes to be for the sax. Oddly, the By Interval option isn't grayed out if nothing is selected, but doesn't seem to do anything.

Incidentally, something odd happens to the main window when I open the transpose window; I've 3 screens, and the transpose dialog opens on a different screen. If I move the dialog onto the main window, the main window moves diagonally a bit, then a bit if the dialog moves back again - leaving a trail behind it (I've attached a screen shot).

If I move the mixer dialog onto the main window and off again, the mixer dialog gets enormous - straddling 2 monitors!
