In the Preferences window the "Note Entry" tab has an "Alternate Input" option.

The alternate input option requires a lengthy explanation and takes up several lines in the Note Entry tab. A user has to read the lengthy explanation in order to understand what the option is (and even then may not understand what it is).

The "alternate input" method is used by the text-based Lilypond, but I don't know of any other software that uses it. Do any users actually turn this on purposefully?

The "alternate input" option is an unnecessary burden for new users looking through the preference window. My preference is to remove it.

Has this been done? I can't see anything that says Alternate Input within the Note Entry tab in Preferences.

Using MuseScore 2.0 Nightly Build (4338) - Mac 10.4.11.

I don't see any issues where it was logged to remove it, possibly its somewhere in the changelog. The feature is not there in 2.0 anymore.
