Plugin API documentation

Has anybody done any work on an API documentation and/or short tutorial for writing plugins? I have experience in documentation, and would be willing to help with this as much as I can. (Which would basically includes going through the examples and writing a tutorial off it.)
Is there any interest/need for this, or a place that has some clues as to the API to be documented?
You can find the light documentation for plugins in the SVN.
Plugin framework is still young but a better documentation, or tutorial is welcome.
If you write something, It can be added to the handbook or in the developer handbook
For now, probably the developer handbook would be a better place than the normal handbook.
