Steps to reproduce bug
1. Open a large score such as the bach-bc2 demo
2. In the Navigator drag the "viewing area" rectangle to the right hand edge of the screen and hold it there

Expected behavior: The screen view should keep scrolling when you drag the "viewing area" rectangle to the edge of the navigator and there are more pages to show (cf. Sibelius)

Actual behavior: Scrolling stops when you reach the edge of the navigator. The navigator does not allow you to get to pages beyond those that fit in the navigator.

I have 1.0 rev 3996 for Windows. My score is 15 pages long (or wide :)). It seems to scroll nicely when I scroll to pages not visible. The further I move the mouse, the more pages roll up. But meanwhile the mouse pointer travels off the application window. When the mouse pointer reaches the edge of the screen, everything stops. I have to grab a new grip of the rectangle to scroll further, until I reach the screen edge again. And since I've maximised the application window, I'm at the far edge all the time. Scrolling 15 pages gets annoying.
If it were possible, the mouse pointer should be turned off while dragging the rectangle. Then you could just drag as far as your mouse pad lets you, then you just lift the mouse without minding the mouse button, nor the mouse pointer, and just drag some more. One of my mouses has a tilt wheel, which works pretty nice with the sideways scrolling.
Another annoying thing with the navigator is that it doesn't seem to follow the current page, if you change the page by pressing home or end. If I'm at page 15 and want to go back to page 1, there's no other way than to drag the rectangle, with all the trouble I described above. I can press home, but that doesn't change the navigator view. Pressing home usually gets me (the working area) to the title page that has no staves, since they don't fit with the title (orchestra score). Then I'd like to quickly scroll to page 2, but I can't use the navigator, since it is still on page 15.

Other than that, I love MuseScore more and more.

Perhaps a keyboard shortcut to a "Jump to page/bar" dialog.

Thanks for that, Cheng. I was so looking for navigation window features, that it didn't occure to me that there would be this bar jump feature already there, even if I suggested such. The navigation window may suck all it wants, I don't care, now that I have cmd + F. I guess I will find it on Windows, too. I'm on my Mac now.

Um, no! I take it back! The navigation window may not suck all it wants. One needs the navigation window for lots of purposes. We need a simple way to jump from the end to the beginning of the score in the navigation window! It is as important as jumping in the actual score editing window.
To mark a 2 page section of bars I click at first bar to mark it, then I shift-click at the last bar. Inbetween I have to move from first page to second page. For this I need the navigation window. I don't care to figure out bar numbers. And dragging the score makes me lose the marking of the first bar. At this point it is very annoying to have the edit window showing the first page, but the navigation window showing the last page of some 60 page score.

Do you know that you can use page up / page down to go from page to page ? and Home to go the first page ?
If not, it's better discussion issue on the forum before posting on the issue tracker.

But it still has no effect on which pages are shown in the navigation window. The navigation window might still be the only way to get me to say the bottom of page 2, while "page down" only gets me to the top of the next page.
Now that I'm aware of the problem, I feel it's happening all the time. I'm writing at page 1 and want to jump to the bottom of page 2. The navigation window shows page 60 something. Clicking there by mistake gets me to the end of the score. Dragging the pages requires me to exit note input mode, drag, then enter note input mode again. And as I pointed out, if my purpose to get to bottom of page 2 is to shift+click to mark the end of a selection, I need the navigation window for it.
A quick idea would be that if home, end, Pg up and Pg dn moves the edit window view, shift+home, shift+end, shift+Pg up and shift+Pg dn would do similar moves in the navigation window. If the navigation window couldn't simply follow the edit window pages somehow.

A scroll bar has since been implemented for the navigator and dragging the rectangle will move it along.
