Ditto on the French forum. See that: especially the last message at 1:39 pm (with screenshot)

Same here. Avast! anti-virus automatically quarantines the musescore.exe file (removes it from the directory) if I try to use it. I had to add the musescore directory to Avast! as an exclusion, ie; don't scan or take any action at all when I activate the executable file.
Interestingly, Avast! also shut down my connection to the Musescore download server too. I had to disable Avast! long enough to get the beta file downloaded. Evidently, it "detected" a problem due to it's ability to analyze the download stream.

could it be a new virus that would have a name with core.exe for example , or esco.exe
and that Avast would by security exclude all containing this * string *.exe ...?

detecting a virus by its name would be a rather stupid method, wouldn't it?
In reply to detecting a virus by its name by Jojo-Schmitz
So I said something stupid...
But I found strange that it appears a month after the Beta 2 release with people who seems to use Beta 2 release EVERY DAY (or almost...)

Viruses are detected by code signatures, not filenames. All that has happened is a virus signature update by AVAST now mistakenly sees something in musescore2.exe it doesn't like. If an AVAST user submits this as a false positive it will get fixed.

No, you didn't. In a brainstorming there is no such thing as saying something stupid.
If an Anti Virus software would actually use that method, that would be stupid ;-)
Just wanted to say I've been having the same problem all day.
Started off with Avast shutting down my version 2.0 Beta of Musescore, then shutting down the Nightly version when i tried to use that. Then when I tried to download 2.0 Beta again, the page itself was shut off by Avast, using Firefox and Google Chrome. I managed to download the Nightly version, but whilst unpacking the programme, Avast shut it down and warned of a virus. It seems to happen when it's trying to use the .exe file and gives the warning 'Infection : Win32:Evo-gen [Susp]".
Hope that's of some use in getting this sorted, I'm missing my Musescore :-)

I have found a way round the problem but I don't like it. If you can get as far as downloading the latest installer for beta2, then download it but don't run it.
I had beta 1 installed and running OK. I then went to "Avast - settings (scroll down to ) - exclusions" then under "File Paths" browse for the MuseScore exe file. On my system it is in
C:\Program Files (x86)\MuseScore 2\bin
Add this into the list of exclusions and click OK.
You can now run the beta2 installer and it should upgrade MuseScore, because the exe file that Avast has taken exception to will not be scanned. At least it worked on my system (Windows 8 incidentally)
I am reluctant to leave this as it is but I will for the moment. Since I have kept the beta 1 and beta 2 installers in my download file it is not too big a deal to have to reinstall if it goes again. (First uninstall beta 2 if necessary and then re-install) When I get brave I will try changing Avast back again and see what happens. When I can work out how I will also report the problem as a false positive, although I suspect others will already have done so.
Cross fingers.

Nobody here is stupid.

thank you (if it was addressed to me) , ... although I didn't say I was stupid, I had said the things I said was stupid....
Just I thought that as it appear indipendantly from release of Beta 2 , it was more about a new virus (or something searched by avast) that avast "killed" musescore.exe"

Thanks :-) I'll give it a go on my XP system.
