SVG graphics disappear following closing of program

Musescore 0.9.6 stable. Linux Mint 9 (ubuntu lucid).

I have been trying to add svg images to my scores. I can drag them into the score, manipulate and print them fine on the score, but if I close musescore down and reload the score the graphics are blank. GIFs work fine (I will probably just use GIFs and other formats that work in the meantime) but is it intended that the program will support SVG images or a way to make these work?
