Cannot set flag invisible with visible stem

• Jun 20, 2010 - 19:16

There is a minor bug which means that the stem is set to invisible when the flag is.

I have solved the lack of individual note-head cross-staffing (ie when a chord is split between hands), by having 2 sets of grace notes and then extending the lower stems so that they coincide with those of the upper staff (Right Hand). However, I the want to hide the flag, while retaining the note stem...

I need to split notes between 2 staves - and at present, you can only place a chord in one staff. You cannot move individual note heads in a chord to another staff - while leaving others where they are: -

I worked around this by using a grace note group in the LH and putting it on top of that in the RH. However, this is not ideal, partly because you cannot always align the stem positions exactly and partly because it is slower than just entering the grace notes once and then just allocating them to different staves...

Making a flag invisible.

Right clicking a flag and setting it as invisible will also unfortunately make the stem invisible as well.

As a work around, right-click the flag. (Be careful to select only the flag -- not the stem or note head. You may wish to use a high magnification for this.)

Then right-click the flag. From the pop-up menu, select “Color,” then set the flag color to “White.” This changes the flag to the same color as the paper and it will not print.

CAUTION! There is a bug -- this process is not “sticky.” Once saved and later recalled, the flag will once again appear as black. So only do this is a final step before printing.
