Should ties be movable?

I wonder if it's for the same reason as the rests (multiple voicing), but I just wondered.

:)

It's not always necessary or wise though. I'm not sure published scores would look so personalised? I don't really see the point in it. Would prefer to restrict movement where not required - to ensure tidiness as well (also for consistency in appearance - if another bar had the same, or similar irregular placement of objects).

Unless you could switch between working modes: 'freedom' (what you like) and 'publishing' (what I like - only freedom is allowed if notes collide with rests, etc - also with a functionality that keeps a neat levelled appearance for these objects).

things should be as narrowly focused so that there is real information passed between people. I believe that is the real goal of notation. That's not to say that there shouldn't be "stretch" so that legitimate needs can be met, but I see no reason to add features that are not really for the purpose of communication. The goal of Musescore is to produce a "Music Notation Program", and I hope that that goal is kept clear as the 1st priority.

If you can explain why a tie should be adjustable and make a case for it musically, then I think it should be considered, but to just make thing changeable so one can fool around unnecessarily with elements seems to me to just detract from the no doubt very difficult job of fulfilling the needs of a notation program.
